Ádám Kósa - International Committee of Sports for the Deaf
ICSD office - office@ciss.org
I would like to warmly welcome all participants of the conference on scientific research in sports for people with disabilities "Sport of the Disabled in scientific research".
This conference is part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the International Committee for Deaf Sports. Therefore, I was pleased to accept honorary patronage over the conference.
The 100th anniversary celebration will take place in Paris on 2. October 2024. ICSD is the second and oldest committee organizing the Deaflympic Games after the International Olympic Committee.
There are approximately 124 national Deaf sports federations associated with the ICSD.
In total, it is estimated that around 30000 deaf athletes train in various sports around the world.
In 2022, 2412 athletes from 73 countries participated in the XXIV Summer Deaflympic Games.
The XXV Summer Deaflympic Games will be held in Japan in 2025. We hope that the games in Japan will also be an organizational and sporting success.
Poland is one of the few countries where the Polish Deaf Sport Association, in cooperation with Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, conducts regular research on the physical fitness level of Deaf athletes and publishes books and scientific articles about Deaf sports.
The development of Deaf sports is one of the priorities of the ICSD board for the coming years.
This Conference mobilizes the ICSD Board to take global action to ensure that scientific research on Deaf sports is conducted in every country.
Finally, I congratulate the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz for taking up this important topic for people with disabilities, and I ask the conference organizers to send the final conclusion of the conference to ICSD.
The ICSD Board will engage in promoting scientific research in Deaf sports around the world.
